How to convert a Quicktime music download to an iTunes file

I just downloaded an mp3 file from a friend's site (his own performance) on Panther. It downloaded into quicktime, and I can play it even without my connection activated in the Safari window it downloaded into. However, I can't figure out how to save it as a file that I can dump into iTunes. Help! (Yep, I'm a technodummy )

    Okay, first off, QT Player doesn't need that connection in Safari, in fact, it doesn't need Safari or any other browser running to get the file and play it over the net.

    What you need to do is load the page with the link on it to the MP3 in Safari. Then go to the View menu and select View Source. You'll see gibberish... that's the HTML for the page you're looking at. Cmd-F (for Find Text, just like any other app), and enter .mp3. It should find the URL for the MP3 you want. Copy everything from http: onward to the .mp3, and paste it into the location field in a new Safari window. It should now load it in that window as an embedded QT player. When it's done loading, Cmd-S to save.

    Now, wasn't that easy?

    Holy crap! Thanks for the post! I tried that, and there was no "mp3" found anywhere. Here's what I got:

    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Frameset//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/frameset.dtd">;

    <html>

    <head>

    <title>Coda Jazz</title>

    <meta name="TITLE" content="Coda Jazz" />

    <meta http-equiv="CONTENT-TYPE" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252" />

    <meta name="EASYDNS-FORWARDER" content="easydns.v4.webfwd1" />

    </head>

    <frameset rows="100%,*" border="0" frameborder="0" framespacing="0">

    <frame name="top" src="http://diadic.com/codajazz/Pangaea/Audio.html"; noresize />

    <frame name="easydns.v4.webfwd1" src="about:blank" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" noresize />

    <noframes>

    <body>

    <h1>Coda Jazz</h1>

    <p>Your web-browser does not support frames. You will need to <A HREF="http://diadic.com/codajazz/Pangaea/Audio.html">click here</A> to be redirected to this site. (You will be automatically redirected in 10 seconds.)</p>

    <script language="javascript">

    function go() {

    self.location = "http://diadic.com/codajazz/Pangaea/Audio.html";

    }

    setTimeout("go()", 10000);

    </script>

    </body>

    </noframes>

    </frameset>

    </html>

    I have no idea what any of that means, but it scares me.

    Heh. Well, I went to the site, and each of the MP3s is a direct link... just ctrl-click or right-click on the MP3 link, and then select 'Download Linked File As...'

    Here I thought it was using a redirect link or something tricky... sheesh.
