Why can't I connect to two servers via afp?

I can connect to two servers via SMB, but if I have one server connected via AFP and then try to connect another one via AFP the first one drops. Anyone know why? The reason this matters to me is that .ai(Adobe Illustrator 10 and 11) files will not open for me across the network in SMB. AFP is no problem it opens them fine. But SMB I have to copy to my desktop then open. SMB connection gives me this error message



"Acrobat PDF File Format is having difficulties. There was a Macintosh system error(-39)."



Anyone have a clue?

    I am pushing this back up to the top because I am still curious if anyone has a clue about this. I can connect to two afp servers via an os9 computer but not an osX computer.

    It sounds like something is wrong with your system or network.
