Illustrator 11.0.2 released...
1) 11.0.2 Doesn't fix long-term bugs.
Illustrator 11.0 is over a year old and THIS is what we get for a patch? This is criminal! What a bore. Why bother? There are still bugs that go back to the OS 9 days! Don't work too hard, fellas.
2) A GUI 11.0.2 Installer is non-existant.
I ended up making my own installer with PackageMaker. If a Mac admin like myself can build a better installer than Adobe, Inc., then we are doomed, my friends. You really think I can manually install 2 crappy Carbon libraries by hand on *200 Macs*? Give me a break, Adobe. I should be on Adobe's payroll for having to make my own installer. This is embarrassing! Does Adobe expect end users to "right-click and View Package Contents"? More importantly: Does Adobe WANT end users to muck around in there? Am I not stating the obvious?
3) The updated Illustrator App does not reflect the "11.0.2" version number. Sloppy.
I have 200 Macs! As an admin, I'd like to know at-a-glance what user has what version of Illustrator, ya know? Is that too much to ask for, Adobe?
Therefore:
Adobe is lazy.
Adobe is sloppy.
Adobes "updates" cause more problems than they fix! It's what I call "software malpractice".
Adobe doesn't care about the Mac platform. Adobe please work with Apple to make killer OS X apps. Please.
Adobe doesn't care about the Illustrator product. Just look around. Can you hear the heart monitor flat-lining?
Adobe isn't concerned about its customers anymore. Have you seen Illustrator 12 yet? Ouch.

Why is every Mac Adobe app bloated, buggy, and clunky? Does anyone think it's time for Apple to say "F YOU!" and create a CS alternative? Look at what they did with Final Cut and now Motion. Could they pull off a Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign killer using native OS X technologies like CoreImage, Quartz and.... oh.... I don't know... sheets?! What if they could impede on the design market like they did the internet browser market with Safari? Adobe sinks to new lows with this Illustrator update, I think it's time Apple gives it a shot.
My work uses Illustrator 10 in classic and if you want problems with Illustrator try running 10 in classic. I haven't had any problems with 10 under OS X but under classic its horrible. It crashes all the time and it has lots of little quirks that are really annoying (only in classic).
The only way I will upgrade to Illustrator 12 or Illustrator BS or whatever they are going to call it (I hate the CS crap it's version 11) is if they put Streamlines features into Illustrator. I can't stand the "new look" of Adobe's applications (the icons, packaging, ect). They are horrible, when I see a feather colored with lots of nasty colors I instantly think of PhotoShop, oh wait I don't, I think of a freaking bird who opened a blender.
I hope that they do a little better job all the way around with their applications on the next revision (which should be soon). Time will tell.
Well, I like Illustrator CS. Much better than IL 10. I'm really surprised that you find CS slower than 10, because to me it's a lot *faster*. Just scroll very fast (or hold down the spacebar) and compare. 10 is a dog, while CS flies.
That's because CS delays screen redraws until movement stops. Instead you get some chunky pixels to stare at while moving the screen. Not very useful if you're working on an intricate layout and need to zoom. That's the only reason CS seems faster than v10 for redraws. In other words, Adobe hasn't delivered a decent version of Illustrator since v8.
