Converting Sparseimge to read-only DMG

Is there a way either in terminal, Disk Utility or other to convert a sparsimge to a read-only DMG. Preferably, it would need to make the read-only DMG just the size of the used space in the sparseimage rather than the capacity.



I know i could just copy but i am doing this with a HD clone (coutesy of CCC) and i need to convert the file. The file is HUGE and i only have a limited amount of scratch space (shoudl be enough but not enough to just do a transfer in finder).

    I use the utility DropDMG to do this all the time, but with smaller images (largest <100 MB). I don't know it's requirements for scratch space, but you could check into it: http://www.dropdmg.com



    The demo works uncrippled for a while.
