sound files - ringtones

im trying to take like 20 second bits of mp3 songs and convert them into midi to send to my phone to use as a ringtone. once i had the 20 second clip, i used quicktime to export it and then changed it to midi, but it was still like 250kb i was wondering how to get it smaller, in quicktime i exported it as 8 bit mono but its still not small enough file.
