How to put CD Eject on top task bar?

I know theres a way to do it because I did it once. I just can't remember how its done!

I wonder why Apple made this so hard to do? It should really be in system preferences somewhere.



A guy I work for doesnt have a Mac keyboard and he has a G5 tower which doesnt have a CD eject button.

    Mine showed up there when I temporarily installed a second CD drive and now I can't make it go away so I would be interested in this as well.

    Follow this path to show all menu extras on your system:



    Computer>System>Library>CoreServices>Menu Extras



    Double click and it should appear in your menu bar. To get rid of it, just command-drag it off. It go 'poof'.

    Thank you! I still dont understand why Apple doesnt make this easier to do and find.

    Or you can enable it with TinkerTool (and several other hidden Finder options).

    F12 should function as an eject button for keyboards without an eject key.
