Beige G3 ROM Revision 1 problems
Is it true that this ROM causes disk damage on large hard disks when these are connected to the onboard internal ATA? I use only one disk, set as master, because I know there is no slave support.
According to someone, this could be the cause of several lockups after installing a G4 upgrade. Unfortunately, I don't have a free PCI slot for a PCI ATA controller and I don't want to spend too much money. The person said that every hard disk larger than 12 GB will have problems.
Any experiences?
The same G4 upgrade performed well in another G3 Beige with ROM Rev3. And according to www.everymac.com the first generation G3 Beiges doesn't support more than 384 MB RAM. Is this true and would this problem be solved if I replace the ROM by a Rev2 or 3?
