Do you remember Mississipi burning the movie ?

This story was based on a real story : the murder of 3 civil right workers by the KKK in the summer 1964.

Yesterday they arrested, Ray killen, a white supremacist involved in these murders 30 years later. The man, nicknamed the preacher clamed his innocence.

Full story here : Ray Killen claim to be innocent

I love when they round up these guys.

Powerdoc could you please ban the first member that insinuates that I'm a racist or I am somehow affiliated with these type of people?

You mean...they arrested, Ray Killen, a white supremacist allegedly involved in these murders...

Seems to me he's innocent until proven guilty in a count of law, as we all are. Or did I miss something?

    1...

    2...

    3...

    4...

    Now I suppose I'm a racist.

Seriously, everyone deserves a fair trial, even scumbags.

Sure that's fine but I'm not on the jury.

I was referring to Powerdoc, actually.

But it's not limited to juries, it's the foundation of our justice system.

It's not a free speech issue, it is potentially libelous to leave out "alleged" like that.

(I'm no defender of this guy, by the way).

You'd want to be presumed innocent, too, as would I.

Wouldn't someone think you were a racist if you held the opposite view?

Scott is usually sarcastic when he posts, so maybe he really does support the racists.

    Sue me

But remember, I am presumed innocent until proved guilty.

A high school teacher of mine was dating Andrew Goodman at the time of his disappearance...

Hopefully justice will be served this time around...

The question is: who counts as "all" in the US. I found this article in the Washington Post rather disturbing. Some quotes:

"... The Pentagon and the CIA have asked the White House to decide on a more permanent approach for potentially lifetime detentions, including for hundreds of people now in military and CIA custody whom the government does not have enough evidence to charge in courts. ..."

"...ask Congress for $25 million to build a 200-bed prison to hold detainees who are unlikely to ever go through a military tribunal for lack of evidence..."

Hiya... MSB (mississippi burning) was indeed one of the better movies in the 90's wich too bad never got some a big price for the work W.Defoe and G.Hackman did.

furthermore i think those asking for a ban for others for any reason whatsoever such be banned themselves for beeing so lame to ask 'daddy the forummoderator' to help them get rid of someone for them.

I think people should watch Ghosts of Mississippi back to back with Mississippi Burning and then be forced to spend Christmas eve driving around Memphis with relatives who talk about parts of town as being "dark."

It's nice to see my home state getting around to prosecuting murderers 40 years later.
