Creating Partition, Reinstalling OS X

Hi there. It was suggested (with many reasons) to partition my drive for my particular usage, and run a specific system setup on one partition, and then another setup on another partition. This is what I plan to do. But I also want to keep my Mail, Safari, AddressBook, and Calendar, along with iTunes music and transfer those (preferably via iPod)... my question is... what can I do to move these certain prefs, bookmarks, names, songs (already taken cared of - copied iTunes folder) to the "new" hard drive?

Also, what about the keychain passwords? Or should I just write those out?

Why exactly do you need to have a second partition? I think you need to re-evaluate that piece of information. I have a funny feeling that this is about audio as there is a specific set of instructions out there recommending this. But the instructor doesn't quite understand how things work, and would probably get the same results by simply: a) not running haxies and b) having a dedicated user for that purpose.

Besides developers who are beta testing things (and amy have to test them in different OS's), I really can't think of any valid reasons for more than one partition.

But everything you mention is contained in your user directory... just pack and move that (most of it is in ~/Library but taking ~/ just makes more sense).
