The only problem I've had so far was not using enough pressure to
install my extra RAM, man them's is tight!
I thought the RAM sticks were in O.K., but they weren't showing up
in the system profiler, so I had to shut down and re-install them till
the RAM keepers clicked.
What I miss the most from Unsanity are
ClearDock
Aluminum Alloy and
Pinwheel ( as opposed to Beach Ball}
and my BLUE system prefs dock icon
I hear you with the RAM sticks in the G5. I thought I was going to break something getting them in.
What I do at home is to use two different users. One is my general email, web, games, etc. The other is the "Pro" user; this one I keep ultra clean. I not sure if haxies work at the user level, but if they did you could keep them isolated to your user account.
And all this cool new stuff is why the basement remains unfinished
Bwah! ha! ha! ha! The new system that I am waiting on is not why my basement build-out that I started back in January isn't finished. Mine is not finished because I am lazy and I sit at my computer way too long.
My wife is not mad that I ordered the Power Mac, but she did not have to tell me that I better get down there and finish the two rooms either. One of the rooms is my new computer room. If I do not get it finished soon, I might have to put a bed in it instead of my computer desk.
Awesome! I needed to see a picture of one one next to a computer to get a better idea of what I was dealing with. Looks great. I'm getting 2 of those bad boys now.
As you can see photography is not one of my better skills.
You know, before I saw this comment, I was thinking how I like set-up photos where the flash lights the internals of the G5 to show the fans--makes the G5 look all industrial. Very cool--and very nice set-up. Congrats.
My SO and I usually upgrade our tower every 4 years, and the replacement of our DP800 is coming this August, but I'll wait for the next rev solely to get PCI-E (if that happens then).
Comments
I'll be running my G5 pretty much default for a few weeks at least,
just to make sure everything is doing what's it's supposed to.
I understand that some apps still aren't ready for Tiger,
so I've partitioned my 160 HD to 110GB for Tiger
and the remaining space of the second partition for Panther.
I may wipe this configuration too if I can afford a 2nd 160 GB SATA soon.
That's another reason I'm keeping things simple for now.

Hopefully more and more compatible skin options will become available as more people write these mini apps for Tiger.
Right now I'm more concerned with getting my new monitor, then
getting everything up and running with some degree of permanence.

They're both free and get rid of that nagging Dock shadow.
You can also customize your application running arrows to
show on any display background you choose.
Nothing like having a lot of LCD real estate.
