New PowerMac G5 1.8 - fan failure

Hi,



I just received my new G5 single CPU 1.8 GHz, turned it on and it was *LOUD*

(and stayed that way). Running the hardware test CD gave the following error:



2FAN/4/7: Rear fan 1



Is there anything I can check myself or do I have to send the unit back to Apple?

I already tried resetting the SMU.



Does anyone have a link to the service manual for the new G5?

    G5 towers should be almost whisper quiet (my dual 2.0GHz is, anyway. I can hardly hear it at all, unlike those old G4 towersa).



    Your best bet is to call Apple. Depending on whether the fan can be replaced by the user, they may FedEx you a replacement fan overnight/next day.
