PC Hard drive to Mac Hard drive

I have an extra maxtor 20gb hard drive form my dell. I just took it out to install a bigger drive. I was looking at getting one of those external HD cases for this extra drive to use with my powerbook. Is there any way I can make this hard drive work on my mac. All of the files are still on the drive such as window xp word and more. Can I some how remove all the data to reformat for the mac. The new maxtor hard drive says that it is both mac and windows compatable.

click here for the specs of the 20 gig hard drive. Maxtor also says that this drive is also mac compatable.

Thanks,

Matt

You can use the drive no prob and format it using the disk utility.

    Formating it will erase it.

Just pop it into a compatible Firewire equipped case and plug it in. The drive should mount as a Windows volume, and you can copy the files off. Then use Disk Utility to reformat the drive to HFS+ and it's a Mac drive now.

Good to hear! Doesn't sound like a hard task to tackle, can't wait to give it a shot.

    Thanks for the posts!
