PowerBook Keyboard

Do any of you suppose that it would be technically possible to replace the keyboard in my 800MHz PowerBook with the new fiber-backlit one from the 17"? I think the keyboards are the same size, but whether or not the connecting ribon is the same is an issue, as is the fact that I'm not sure if the light sensor is in the keyboard itself or elsewhere on the machine. Thanks.

Anyone notice that the 12" model does not come with the backlit keyboard? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Seriously? I'm really planning on getting one, but I really love that feature.

me too. I would hate it if the 12" model wouldn't have the backlight feature.

The keyboards are all new. In fact, they don't even flip up anymore. Any access to RAM or whatever is now done from the bottom side. The keyboards have much better travel and don't flex nearly as much. The keys are also taller and more contoured.

That sounds good. I never really liked Apple's laptop keyboards (which is why I mostly use a Pro Keyboard with my iBook).

i don't like the function keys IMHO the eject key should be the size of the delete key and the rest of the function keys should be flush with the number keys. Or the ESC key should be the size of the delete key and the function keys should be in the middle

I don't like the way it looks now

I want to see the 17" keyboard close-up like this also
