APple Home Media Center ideas

These are some ideas that I had for a Home Media Center by Apple:

-Built in DVR.

-iTunes Music Store Access.

-Play Music from iTunes and movies from Quicktime you have stored on your Computer through wireless network.

-Access to Apple's very own Pay-per-view system.

-Free On-Screen Guide.

-The ability to sync with iPod.

-Internet Access.

-POP/IMAP Email Access.

-DVD and CD Player(of course, duh)

-Access iPhoto and iDVDs from your Mac over Wireless.

-Play Games (possibly if Apple could score a deal.)

-iTunes Visualizer on your TV.

The system would feature a 40 GB Hard Drive for DVR, Music, and more, with a 60 GB upgrade. Would not need to be fast (450 MHz G4 would be enough I guess.) And it would come with wireless keyboard and remote simular to the MSNtv 2.

And wouldn't have to cost more than $299, same as the iPod, thoughts?

I think people would be far better off with large drives. We have some replay TV's and if you store movies on them the space fills up fast. I guess the key would be to use it only for recording shows, the occasional movie, and then be disciplined enough to burn things that you want to keep. The problem is that most people aren't disciplined enough to stay on top of it and then be frustrated with only 40gigs. I'm thinking that 100gigs should be minimum.

    What do you think?

    The price is great.

    HD compatible would be stellar.

I think that you are probably right, raise it to 80 GB I guess would be enoug for me. HD would raise the price I think, maybe make that an upgrade option I suppose.
