Startup commands with wireless keyboards?

So the other day I had to fix a little bit of file corruption by running FSCK, which meant I had to reboot and hold down Apple-S keys to get the command prompt. However I have a wireless Microsoft keyboad (it came with my used G4 iMac and boy is it cheap) and it wouldn't work that early on in the boot process. But luckily I had the keyboad from my old G3 iMac so no problem.



But I'm wondering if this is a problem with ALL wireless keyboads, even those from Apple? I need to know if I should keep that G3 keyboard hanging around indefinitely!
