Hard drive data recovery recommendations?

I would appreciate any recommendations of companies that do data recovery on Mac hard drives. My iMac G4 hard drive is history (three days after the one year warranty expired). My Mac dealer recommends DriveSavers but they are very pricey. Thanks!

Is your drive dead or is the filesystem corrupt?

attach hd to pc (if possible)

    boot a knoppix cd

try to mount it read only

copy/scp etc data to another machine

    yes theres some work involved

it wont cost a dime & you will learn some stuff about drive

    recovery.

note. if the hdd is really kaput then you may not have a choice

    other than forking out $$$

this program SOMEHOW saved my drive that started the dreaded clicking last weekend. i ran this program on it and somehow (i have no idea how) it fixed it enough to get my data off. it still clicks a little and i'll be returning the drive (only 7 months old ) but the important thing is a got the data off!

if you can in anyway get your drive hooked up to a pc then email me about this program.
