Stupid Excel Tricks
Are there any straight-up Excel wizards out there that can help me?
I'm trying to do something very simple in Excel, but I'm having trouble...
Within the cell, I've got a static reference to a text value
=$B$5 (cell with text)
Then I've got the ampersand (&)
Then I've got a simple numerical progression (1, 2, 3, 4, 5).
So the column looks like this:
=$B$5 & 1
=$B$5 & 1 + 1
=$B$5 & 1 + 2
I can't seem to get Excel's autofill to understand what's happening here. It will repeat the series instead of progressing it. Why does the ampersand befuddle it so?
Does anyone know a better way to do this?
Thanks for your time!
