Panther & faxes
\
So you can send a fax via a print dialog box, but how do you receive them?
Does Panther handle it and send it to the Shared Faxes folder, or do you need 3rd party software like FaxSTF?
Also, what format are received faxes saved in? Is it PDF?
Just wondered because I might start using my Mac as a fax machine as well...

You can choose the destination folder for the fax.
There is not much feedback. You could easily attach a folder action script to this folder to flash an alert or sound an alert when a new file is received.
I didn't expect it to be as simple as that. Trust Apple!
The guys at FaxSTF must be chuffed-to-bits about that, eh?
Any ideas what file format the faxes are stored as? I'm assuming PDF?

I just wanted to add that you have to have a
dial-in/modem connection to send/recieve
faxes.

yeah, here's hoping, if they actually do get this VoIP thing going in iChat 6 AvP or whatever they call it, it'll allow for faxing from computer internet connection to landline telephone (unless you can already do that and i missed it somehow). it would be nice to not have to shell out money for a separate fax line whenever i get around to setting up my home business (now delayed until 2017, by the looks of it...)
