Do you have to use Mac specific memory in the mini?

Any, I think as long, as it meets Apple specs.

I was just checking out OWC to see what was available there
40-100GB 2.5 IDE notebook HD's $88.95-$259.99
They offer both 5400 & 7200 RPM HD's ( 60 GB 7200 RPM @$175.97
1GB mini/iMac RAM DIMM's @ $202.00
Looks like you're better off getting the 512 DIMM's from Apple pre-installed.
Now if they would just offer a GPU upgrade!
