Don't know about others experience but I just bought
an opera album The Merry Widow on iTMS for $9.99
and checked Amazon and the same album is there for
$16.98
Beating Amazon prices by that much is amazing imho
No it is reasonable: ITMS encodeing sucks munkey nutz - 128 kb - are they kidding? listen to a song on CD and then the same song in 128k aac...no comparison...but then it has been said that I am a snooty audio phile so take it for what it is worth.
Classical or opera would be the best example of this.
for the most part they do to me as well. but i listen on my computer, in the car and on my iPod(s). the minute I listen to them on a good stereo i hear what they lack. and sometimes even on an iPod it cant be heard.
I guess that's why I can't notice the difference. The only places I listen to my music basically are on my computer and in my car using my iPod
Mi rig is a windows box attached to a nice bookshelf system, ITMS songs sound very poor next to CDs played on the computer cdrom in itunes. they are actually a good bit less than FM, imho, great example is to burn an itms song to cd, put it in a changer, then put the factory CD in the changer...listen and be amaized
