Recent switcher looking for software suggestions

Alright, so, after years of dallying over the concept of a Mac, I purchased a mini on Sunday. Now I'm left to wonder what some of the lovely applications I'd seen being used all this time actually were. For instance, the weather app that hovers so beautifully over some people's desktops? How about a Safari-styled skin for Firefox?

Please, suggest away.

That weather app might be a widget. Try Konfabulator.

    Congrats!

There are plenty to explore with all the quality stuff that comes loaded on the Mac. Take some time to check out all the apps you've got.

You can also go to Apples site to the OS X downloads section to find a lot of shareware/freeware/commercial apps broken down by category.

Enjoy your new experience! If you need help with anything, just ask. Most people here are considerate enough to give you a reasonable answer. Just try to use a good descriptive header for your question .. it helps everybody.

    Welcome aboard!

You might want to check out the following list of "Essential" apps. It's pretty comprehensive.
