Powerbook upgrade and Final Cut Pro

Rob-ART at Barefeet published a test of average render times on final cut pro 4 on various apple configurations including a Powerbook G4/1,5GHz. The test showed that the Power Mac G5/1.8MP was more that two times faster than the 17" PowerBook G4.

Interestingly, between the PB G4/1,5 and the PB G4/1,3 the test showed almost no difference in spped performance: 1236 seconds versus 1269 seconds!

So the question is if the new upgrade (1,67ghZ) will catch up with some of the limitation in speed performance compared to the power mac? The almost identical performance between G4/1,5 and G4/1,3 in the test seems to indicate that it?s not the question.

final cut pro is a G5-optimized app, so G5's are always gonna blow away other proessors.

Sure enough ipodandimac - I just wonder if any pb-fcp-user consider the upgrade worthy or valueless...
