Can you create the lightsaber effect using Final Cut Express?

Hello,
Can the lightsaber effect be created using Final Cut Express?
It can be done through Adobe Premiere using the Filmstrip feature nad I was wondering if there was a way to do it through Final Cut Express??

you would need to get one of the many plug-ins available for FCE to do it, sorry.

Lightsaber effects are done usually by painting on each individual frame.
Here is a brief tutorial using the free Cinepaint app

well you could do anything frame by frame in any app. after effects is the way to go though. it's way easier and produces better effects.
