DIY PowerBook Battery Upgrade

I was irked that there was no third party battery replacement/upgrade for the newer powerbook. I bought an Apple replacement for my failing battery. I cracked the old one open to see if I could replace the individual batteries myself.

So here's the LG battery in the powerbook 12"

But it looks like I can get one that has more power.

So? Why not? Hotter? Who cares. I've had one off spring. I'm safe from the Darwin awards.

    No opinions?

I asked a coworker today and he saw no problem with it. Now I just need to find out where to buy these?

Should work fine. At lest if you use the same capacity as the original. Remember that the powerbook-battery has a chip inside to control the charge.

At my university there are some people which change batteries, but only on wintel Laptops. They haven't had problems yet. Just keep in mind that you, or the person who changes batteries, should be very carefull when soldering batteries.

I will try this before I have to buy a new 160$00 original battery :-).

Have you tried to find those batteries at your local electronics dealer?

    Good luck

I can't find them anywhere on line. I don't think I'll be able to buy any. I'll ask one of my Korean friends to check Korean sites.
