System CPU Usage > 44% all the time
I am not sure what to do, even as I am typing this the words are laggin as I type. I have iTunes, safari, AIM, and Activity MOnitor open and that is all, and my system CPU usage is still exceeding 44%. Here is a tail of my system.log:

Nothing too serious in there, and no processes are hung, any idea what i can do.
Also, I am running 10.3.8 with 1.5 gig of RAM on a Quicksilver 800 G4.
thanks in advance,

Are you using the iTunes visualizer? That eats CPU usage. Also what computer are you using and how much RAM do you have?
44% sound about right, especially if you're using the visualizer, but I'm puzzled by the slowdown, unless of course you only have 256 or 512 MB of RAM.
2. No iTunes visualizer here. Also, my comp info is in the first post:
Quicksilver G4 800, 10.3.8, 1.5 Gig of RAM
3. That's a negative on the flash disk. I tried pluggin the flash disk into the keyboard hub and I got that error, but it was unplugged for the system slow down.
What is the memory usage. Is a ram disk being used.
Are network drives mounted. What apps are running.
Is there high disk io?
Dobby.

Safari doesn't like Flash adverts. That may be causing the slow-down
It sounds like there is too much power draw on the USB bus your flash drive is connected to and the flash drive driver is complaining heartily, possibly even constantly. It's driver will be operating in kernel space hence the kernel being a high CPU user. As you said it is unplugged and you still have the slowdown there might be a bug in the driver someplace, so it might not be letting go of the processor like it should. Hard to tell without some dedicated testing along the lines of what dobby suggested.

Flash ads? The word flash doesn't ALWAYS mean something to do with Macromedia.

I didn't mention Macromedia. I've found a lot of people complaining that their CPUs are used a lot on this website, with Safari. Although the flash drives could make more sense.
OH, I think I understand what you mean now!! I was referring to flash ads nothing to do with the flash drive in the log.
