Is it iPod sales that convert new mac owners ???

for the fiscal first quarter, the company reported a +74% growth in revenue, +26% growth in Mac units and +525% growth in iPod units over the year-ago quarter.

    Interestingly, my colleague was just talking to the head of Autodesk (well the COO), and he is just in the process of buying a Mac because he's fed up of Viruses and Spyware. That's pretty cool, seeing as Autodesk dumped the Mac long ago - not the sort of place you'd expect to get Switchers.

    Apple's first fiscal quarter is October-December. They're currently in the middle of their second fiscal quarter.



    So those numbers had nothing to do with the Mac mini or the iPod shuffle.



    Given that, this quarter's results should be interesting indeed.



    Good thing to hear about AutoDesk, even if it doesn't mean anything... yet.
