I've got to do something, just gragging stuff to dvd's is time consuming and a pain, so i need an external HD for back-ups. is Maxtor good? the 250gig version comes with retrospect which i suspect i also need

so i guess i;m looking at:

Maxtor 250GB One Touch 7200 RPM External FireWire Hard Drive

what brands are best?

I just got the Maxtor 250 GB. So far, so good. The "one touch" backup takes a good long while, uses Retrospect Express. There are cheaper drives that you can buy an external case for yourself, but this seemed like a decent package when I bought it online (too expensive at retail). What I like about it over the LaCie drives I looked at was that it had a larger buffer -- 8MB as opposed to 2 MB.

Maxtor's are notoriously toasty. I would never run a 7200rpm Maxtor without active cooling. I'm curious to see how long their external drives hold up. What kind of warranty do they have?
