.mac and backup
So i am new to the .mac membership. I have uploaded all my bookmarks and addresses. I have even dragged a few documents to my iDisk icon. So my question is what is the difference between this and running backup. Clearly you can backup more things with the backup program, is this the only difference?
Then on top of that, how does this all fit in with iSync. I guess one would use iSync to sync those bookmarks and address book contacts. So in all reality iSync is the conduit to get the addresses and bookmarks onto the iDisk.
Am I on the right track with that?
Thanks for helping out the newbie!

If you use backup to run regular checks, you wont have to manually transfer the files. This is good in three ways: 1) You can leave it to backup whilst you doing something else; 2) If you say all the word docs in home folder, it'll back em all up regardless of whether they have been backed up before; 3) it wont miss of forget documents like you or I might.
With regards to iSync and the address book and bookmarks, you're correct. I also think it pointless to backup these in backup if you use iSync to sync .Mac with your Mac as you can sync if you need to restore stuff.

ok, so lets say you run backup, then how do you go retreive that information if you need it?
Run the restore from... in backup.
Backup is only used if you want to backup files on your system in case of crashes/fires/someone steals it etc. If you just want to store a file on your iDisk but not have copy on your hard drive, then put it straight in the iDisk.
