iPod: Problem with USB 2.0 port and resolution

I just had a weird problem with my iPod (4th generation 40 Gb extinct model) and its USB 2.0 connection, which I managed to solve.

Still, I want to do a post mortem do determine exactly what happened.

Today I noticed that my iPod wouldn't connect to my work computer properly via the USB 2.0 connection. When I got home, it also refused to connect via the USB port. In both instances, the iPod displayed the charging icon, but it actually wasn't, since the battery kept running out.

A week ago, I installed the firmware update for the iPod.

By contrast, the Firewire connection was working perfectly.

I managed to solve the problem by resetting my iPod. Now both ports work perfectly.

Has anybody else experienced this? Is this just a hickup, or something I should be genuinely concerned about?

It could have been the fix in the firmware update but if you experience problems I often fin d resetting the iPod solves them. If not restoring the software. If this doesn't work it's either a bug or a faulty iPod.
