Tricky one for y'all.

I have some ancient Hotline Soundets that have some hilarious sounds that I want to extract.

I remember that in OS8-9 you could copy a sound from ResEdit and then go to the Sounds control panel and paste in a new sound (or something like that).

ResEdit opens the Soundset files fine in OSX (under Classic) and I can even Copy the info... but it doesnt get transfered to OSX if I try and paste. I tried pasting into QT 6.5.2, no go.

The sounds are labeled as .snd in the ResEdit resource.

So basically I have a resource file with multiple .snd files in it that I want to extract to OSX.

Any ideas?

Here's a screenshot of what I'm talking about:

My homebrewed solution, made fresh for you!

    Try this in ResEdit:

    For each sound:

    - Copy the snd resource.

    - Create a new file.

    - Paste into the new file.

    - Choose File -> Get Info for [insert your file name here].

    - Change the type to "sfil".

    - Close the new file.

The files will play in iTunes, but not QuickTime Player, it seems. They can be converted to other formats with an application such as Cacophony. Hope this helps.

    Awesome awesome awesome...

I'll just put the files in iTunes and mass convert them to WAV when I'm done.
