20" Power LED Light not working

I bought a 20" ASD Saturday at the Apple Store in SouthPark. Now when I first turn the comptuer on the LED flashes and goes off. When the computer is sleeping the light will fade in and out like it is suppose to. When I am working on the computer (as I am now) the LED light is not on at all. I have checked my settings under System Preferences and everything but nothing makes the light stay on when the computer is on. I have a PowerMac G5 Dual 2.0Ghz Rev. B with an ATI Radeon 9600XT and the display is connected to the DVI port, USB port, & Firewire Port. I have my keyboard connected to the display as well as a 120GB External FW400 HD, and a iPod Photo 40GB connected via firewire.

with your display on, hold down the power button to the display for a really long time. it'll fade or do something to indicate a change, then see if that setting works for you. i for one cant stand the light being on while i'm working so i'm glad you can toggle it.

I tried that but the light still will not stay on. When I first push the button the light comes on and then it fades about 5 seconds later. I held it for 3 mins and nothing happened. So I let off the button and it is still off. I went into System Preference -> Displays -> Options and tried all three settings then held the button and still nothing. Any other ideas? Also, is it made to be able to be turned off or on, I mean Apple made it to where you could toggle it off or on?
