If iPod's battery charge runs out before I have a chance to sync with iTunes... do rated songs (on the iPod) that haven't been synched with my Mac lose their rating?

i dont believe so. this was an issue about a year ago, but the ipod's software has been improved to keep these things in the memory.

I'll let my battery run out completely without fear of losing the ratings then. Thanks.

Ratings and play counts are saved frequently, but not immediately. Once my iPod died and everything was updated except for the last 2 or 3 songs that were played. In this example, the battery died during playback, so I can only assume it didn't get a chance to write the latest changes to the drive before the battery "died".

This was with an iPod mini and the 1.0 firmware I believe.
