I assume you have checked the little box to store sent mail on the server.

If you simply uncheck that box I would guess that your sent mail on the server would disappear.

You can create a rule to move every mail to a new mail box on your local machine then apply that rule to all the mail in your sent mail folder.

so, unchecking that box will have it automatically download the old sent mail from the server [ like 800 pieces] ?

when you say "disappear" - it scares me.

If you have the "save sent messages on server" checked, then they are not saved locally on your computer unless you cc'd yourself.

Select the "Sent" mailbox near the top.

    Select All.

Drag all of the messages to your "Sent Messages" mailbox that is BELOW your "On My Mac" label.

Do as Lundy says. Do not uncheck the store on server option till you have copied the mail to your local HD.
