I just did a search and read that installing more memory in a powerbook DOESNT void the warranty... is this true? or do i need to get it done by an authorized apple dealer?

I have been building PCs for a while now so I know what I'm doing... but thought id make I wasnt voiding anything!

Cheers!

edit - and is this stuff reliable, never used anything other than OCZ myself when building

Right - RAM is a user replaceable part. That won't void the warranty.

And I've never bought from Crucial before, but a lot of people here have, and they seem to have a good rep.
