G5 RAM configuration

Hi,

I'm installing an additional 2 GB of RAM (in 4x512 MB DIMMS) in my PowerMac G5 (dual 2.5) and although I know it needs to be installed symmetrically, does it matter where the 256 MB DIMMS are in relation to the new RAM? (e.g. in the first or last place)?

Thanks

No it doesn't. I installed 1GB of RAM in my Dual 2.0Ghz and I put them right next to the original ram. so then I thought I had bad RAM and took it out, put it 2 spaces away from the first one, meaning out of the four slots on the right side the first is filled, second is skipped, third is filled, and fourth is skipped and it works just as well as. As long as you match up the slots on both sides it doesn't matter what slots you put them in.
