From Murbot post, you need a 512 MB RAM so-dimm PC 2100 DDR ram with 200 pins for the empty slot (the one in the machine is 184 pins).

    Yep.

    Here's the RAM you want:

    It's a 200-pin SODIMM, PC2100 DDR SDRAM.

    $150 at <a href="http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.asp?Mfr+Productline=Apple+iMac&amp;mfr=A pple&cat=RAM&model=iMac+%28G4-1GHz%29&submit=Go" target="_blank">Crucial</a>.

    Cheapest I've seen is $130 at <a href="http://www.18004memory.com/cart/addcart.asp?Try=Yes&itemid=502041&itemtype=cat&cle arance=&ShippingMethod=" target="_blank">18004Memory.com</a>, but for $20 I'd go Crucial for sure.

They are quite a bit more expensive than the RAM for the old 800 MHz model, those can be had for $70-80. :/

The 184-pin DIMM is the one in the non-user accessible slot - where Apple sticks your 256 MB by default unless you BTO it with a larger chip there.

if you swap that out with 3rd party memory, it voids your warranty. just letting you know.
