have a question, and i think this forum is as good as any to do it in... in garage band, can you take songs already made from other artists such as; acdc, guns n roses, billy joel, ect. and edit them in garage band or do you need seperate sound editing software to do that in???

thanks

What kind of editing do you hope to do? You can import the songs into GarageBand then slice, dice, mix, match, layer tracks (other songs, your own playing, loops etc) pan, adjust volume levels, process with filters etc.

i want to take two tracks/songs and put them together sort of speek, so you have 2 songs playing at the same time but edititd into one song... but i dont know how to import the songs from itunes...

If the file in iTunes is not protected it is just a matter of dragging it from iTunes and dropping it into GarageBand. If it is protected you must first go through iMovie to turn it into a movie soundtrack and then export to .aiff

( File>Sharing expert settings Sound to AIFF).

You will need Quicktime Pro to do this I believe. I have Quicktime Pro installed, and I don't remember what sharing options are present in iMovie if you only have the standard version of Quicktime.

The resulting AIFF file can then be dragged into GarageBand.

click the scissors button and select the part to delete, press delete. Don't feel dumb, I didn't realise you could drag and drop from iTunes, I tried importing AACs and MP3s, I hadn't realised it was that simple.

you'll have to pay royalties, or they'll ask you to take the item down. Just risk it!!
