I have a 4Gb mini iPod and am wondering what the purpose of the Sound Check feature is. Thanks!

songs are often different volumes, so when you're in shuffle mode and going from artist to artist and album to album, sound check attempts to equalize all of these so you dont have to keep adjusting the volume. in my experience, sound check makes the volume jumps even worse, and its not that hard to just give the wheel a brush to turn the volume up or down. try it if you want though.

it doesnt actually do anything to the file, so just turning it off returns everything to normal.
