Mail Alarms?

Is there any way to set alarms for e-mail messages in Mail.app?

I know I could export/copy messages as iCal events, but I'd prefer just a simple pop-up reminder from within Mail that I need to respond to a given message by a specific time etc. I get hundreds of messages per day, but I have to prioritize my responses. It would be nice to be able to set reminders for secondary items so that I still respond in time...

I presume someone has a 3rd part plugin or app for this?

Thanks

You can use rules to place mail in different boxes. Then only the mail left in the inbox will make the new mail received alarm go off. This is the simplest solution. Try Apple's website for mail apps: http://www.apple.com/macosx/downloads/email_chat/

Sorry if I'm slow, but I don't follow. If I have read and recieved 50 messages, and need to FLAG (which I can do) 15 for response, but I want to set alarms so that on Friday it reminds me to respond/take action on e-mail #1 etc., how does filtering them into different mailbox folders help? Thanks.

Sorry I assumed you meant new emails. As in when mail arrives. When Tiger comes out you could make a smart mailbox of messages that are flagged.

You could have the rule to flag also fire off an AppleScript that would add it to iCal.
