OS X Server

what all do u need to run a server on OS X Server and does anyone know how hard it is to get one up.



do u HAVE to have an Xserve RAID or xserve g5 or can u just run it off a mac mini, iMac etc.



idk if this is in the right forum sry if it is but i am curious.

    You need a B&W G3 or upward and min of 256MB ram and 2 GB disk (less if you don't wan the BSD stuff and I never have fonts or printer drivers).

    I've never seen it run of a G3 toilet seat but it should also work.



    I've got a nuber of old 300Mhz G3's and 450 MHz G4's running as servers for archive purpose and also for intranet webservers.



    You only use XRaid when you need terabytes of diskpace with decent redundancy (read professional).

    We use XRaid on 2 Windows servers, 3 Sun boxes (via FCAL switch) as its so cheap yet damn good.
