I've just made the switch from PC to iMac and everything is going well, but......my 160Gb Lacie Firewire drive is read only? Can anyone tell me how I go about changing this so that I can save to it, etc?
MacOS X can only read, not write to, NTFS drives. If you just switched, my guess is that your drive is NTFS.
MS changes the NTFS protocols every so often and doesn't document them. This leads to third-party NTFS utilities failing, sometimes spectacularly. Apple chose not to play the catch-up game, and instead just made sure they could read effectively.

I've copied everything from the drive to my hard drive so I'd be happy to reformat it......can this be done, and if so how?
