Autocomplete in Tiger Safari

There is only one thing I am waiting for in the new Tiger version of Safari...

Does anyone know if they have made it possible to turn off the automatic address-bar autocomplete?

I have a request for Safari that is kind of the opposite. Anyone know if the auto complete will let you type in your bookmarks name and bring it up?

For instance, I have a bookmark called NBA scores. The actual url is http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/scoreboard. Can I just type NBA and have the link show up from auto complete? I know at least some other browsers behave this way.

    Sort of.

You can select a private browsing mode, and in this mode Safari doesn't record anything that could be viewed later. No history, no caches, no cookies, and no addresses are remembered during private browsing, so after you're done checking out your favorite porn sites, turn off private browsing and you're set. Then when your mom/wife/girlfried uses Safari next, she doesn't start typing "www.cutebabies.com" and instead get "www.cum-hungry bitches.com".

Or I suppose you could use private browsing mode for banking and stuff, but obviously the feature is aimed at porn hounds.

You should be able to do something similar in LaunchBar.

Actually, my desire for turning off the autocomplete is not for me (hey, I can handle pressing delete). It's for less experienced switchers (i.e. my elderly parents).

It's one thing teaching a computer novice how to type in a web address - it's another explaining why the browser goes to a different address from the one they typed in.

You should press an extra button to get the completed address, not to remove it. For such a beginner-friendly company, I have always found it strange that apple made Safari work this way.
