anyone with 5.1+final cut pro?

I've been needing to upgrade my sound system, and I can't decide between 2.1 or 5.1. Most of my work is video editing, so I wondering if anyone that uses a 5.1 system can verify that Final Cut will use the two front stereo speakers. I don't want the system to try and mix my stereo sounds in Final Cut into the 5 speakers, and also that it doesn't shove the 2 channels into the center speaker of the 5.1 system. I hope this makes sense. Thanks.



edit: obviously the reason i want 5.1 is for movies, but work comes first.

    I don't have a surround sound system, but FCP is capable of multi-channel audio. This leads me to believe that it can distinguish between 2.1 and 5.1.



    Again, I can't prove it. Some Surround sound devices have extra "Sound enhancing" features that will turn stereo into 5.1. So we would need to know your stuff.
