S.M.A.R.T. Check in OS 9

I was asked by someone I know if there is some easy/free way to check the S.M.A.R.T. status of a drive in OS 9. His hard drive sometimes makes clicking sounds and he wants to know if it is normal (like in some laptop HDs) or a sign it is going to fail.

It is also possible that his is running a SCSI disk, is there some way to check the status of a SCSI drive in OS 9 as well?
