LCD iMac CD Drive swap questions.

Has anyone successfully done it? I have a firewire DVD-R and I'm thinking I'd like to put it in my iMac so I can use iDVD. Any thoughts? My firewire drive is a QPS model and works fine for everything I do. I don't know if iDVD will recognize it if it's an internal drive though. I also don't know how the swap procedure goes for the new iMac.
