Banc of America Securities expects new iPod in June

Now I'm not really concerned with the timetable, but I think I know what's coming. I'd expect bluetooth in the next iPods; and not for computers, but for car stereos and other Home Electronics products.

The reason I believe this is BMW and other auto makers have started talking about bluetooth connectivity, and we all know how much Steve loves his Bimmer. Add to that the fact that BMW has hired Apple as a user interface consultant to improve their in cabin UI, and I'd say it's a lock.

Acura has been quietly shipping its cars with bluetooth for a couple of years now. I think this is the most elegant solution to getting iPod audio into a car stereo short of having custom work done to mount an iPod cradle into the center console (something i saw done on "Pimp my Ride"). And thank goodness that BMW picked up Apple to help out with their terrible iDrive interface. Its absolutely awful!

    stereo from bt?????

must be bt2, transfer rate issues and interference, what if i'm on the phone with bt and i want to listen to ipod???

can two different divices share this. i've not heard anything about multiple devices. what about a bt router or something, and addons to old ipods without bt?

will apple sell an in car bt module or leave that to 3rd party vendors.

anyone know of BT device to add to my toyota sienna?? that would be nice. that issue of upgrading cars and older ipods has to be addressed to expand the coolness.

I've seen mention of aftermarket bluetooth interfaces. I suspect, however, that headunits with bluetooth built in would offer more in the way of interface possibilities.

In the VW Jetta, there is a button on the steering wheel (phone symbol)......press it and the car becomes the BT head set. There are microphones placed in specific places to pick up voice only and the stereo delivers the incoming call.

Press the button again (off) and you can use your BT head set for a more private conversation.

There is a menu based computer with a display behind the wheel, that the user can configure computer controlled items like footwell lighting for instance. But, I don't know if BT prefs are user contolled, or paired, or if they are not.

Another reason, I mentioned VW, was there have always been Apple friendly. If you remember, they were the first automobile company to bundle iPods with there automobiles.
