The radeon definitively, but i did not see radeon 9700 for mac avalaible. There is one in BTO in the lattest generation of mac, but they work only in this model.

When they become available, definitely the RADEON 9700. The nVIDIA FX needs some serious work done before it'll be a contender.

The GeForce FX is a contender in terms of raw power, but it's loud, big, and late. I doubt we'll even see a Mac GeForce FX option at all, from Apple or a third party.

In other words, it needs work.

After all, the tradeoffs are hardly worth what looks to be a slight advantage over the 9700 in some tests, if the folks at Tom's Hardware are to be trusted.

Definately the Radeon 9700, it by far outperforms the Nvidia card and it is quieter too.

    Just my 2 cents

A lot of work. I doubt we'll see any Mac compatible FX product for over a year, and I don't think there's any chance for NVidia to retake the crown in the next couple of years.

    Hardware-wise 9700 Radeon is better

But I am afriad that their driver will suck

A lot of 3D apps like Max, Cinema, Maya, Lightwave, and XSI have a lot of problems with the ATI cards due to the problematic driver

Word is that ATi is busily rewriting their driver code, so cross your fingers.

There will not be a GForce FX for Mac for one good reason, it needs two slots so that the stupid head chimney thing can suck/blow enough air. Looking at the ports the chip is on the left side of the board and that's where the second slot is. On the latest Macs the AGC slot is the highest/left-most. There is no space for a second slot above this. NVidea will not re-engineer this card just for Macs, therefore you will never see the GForce FX for Mac.

I also read that in about 95% of test it's beaten by the 9700.

For the first part, yes these card sucks : two slot for one card is a waste.

For the second part, what i read in hardware.fr was the contrary, but with a small difference. They add also that these card was too noisy. I won't buy a geforce FX. I will wait for the next generation of radeon in 0,13 micron process.
