Hi people, i want to get a good but cheap DVD burner to build into my mac.

I can't find a list of mac compatible DVD burners anywhere online, does anyone here know some ?

For PC i can pick one up for ± 20 bucks, but i doubt those are mac compatible.

I have a dual 450 MHz G4.

Thanks !

Thanks for the list, very helpful

I have another question..... some of my dvd's and cd's take about a minute to mount... 2 of these cd's are boot cd's but because they mount to slow the mac cant find a system folder on it during boot.

Any idea how this can be helped ?

All drives are Mac compatible in hardware terms, the issue is whether drivers are available, or existing or third party drivers will work.

XLR8yourmac is reporting that Tiger will natively support many DVD burners. It will be safe to choose one of those Tiger-supported models. In the meantime, you can use patchburn.

I took a risk on a Sony DVD burner that specifically says it supports Win2000/XP only and it works perfectly fine. It just wont come up in finder, but using programs such as toast or popcorn work.
