It reminds me of the time in college when the school paper ("The Prince") had an online poll to try to find out who everyone thought was the most accomplished athlete. There were a few choices, some in track, some swimmers, lacrosse, soccer, etc. Of course, the only people that cared were the ones on the respective teams, and The Prince didn't take them time to log IPs on the online poll, so individuals could vote more than once.
As it turned out, a group email went through the swimmer rank to the extent of "hey, vote for Joe as many times as you can." The runner types were a little smarter than that. My friend wrote a script that hit the poll every 10 seconds AND send out a group email to the extent of "hey guys, go here and run this script." At the end of the day, it was a landslide. Track got over 20,000 votes, which incidentally is about 4 times the number of total undergrads at the school.

The ultimate problem with these polls is that, somehow, mac-ers find them, and then spread the word. The result is un-natural.

Yes was 42%
yeah that poll was certainly a representative sample of the US computer-using population
37% said they already own a Mac
Encouraging results nonetheless, thanks for sharing
