Tiger iSync brings "iSync Agent" for Nokia 60 Series
I just installed Tiger on my laptop and wanted to see if some sync issues have been imporved with my Nokia 6600.
Incredibly enough, when I was prompted to "Please install an application on your phone" I thought Tiger was going nuts.
Instead, I pair with my Nokia, and suddenly I get a nem message that says I received an SMS called "AppleSyncAgent-s60v2.sis"
Holy crap!!!! Apple made a Series60 Sync App!!!! UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE!!!
Anyway, I open the SMS and I install it. Done.
I have a new app running in the background made specifically for Synching MacOS X with Series 60 Nokia phones!!!
So far all my Syncs have gone MUCH faster and the data is good.
Cool, I have an Apple app on my Nokia
I may keep this little phone just a little longer after all.
It's version 1.01 btw... and there is a nice big iSync icon on my Nokia.

iSync, Address Book and iCal all work great with this phone.
Thats a great shot anyway..
I hope that it won't suck out more batteries from an already precarious 2 day charge...
I get about 3-4 days of normal usage per charge. Not great, but i love the phone, so I tolerate it.
I just put it on my dead PowerBook since they're of similar color and the sunlight coming in the window gives it a nice gradient.
There's still a few problems though.
In Tiger, the iSync menubar icon no longer syncs your devices - just .Mac - unless you also have iSync open. The menubar also now no longer has a link to open iSync.
Calendar syncing was initially not working for me until I synced each calendar individually.
It still puts everything in 'Unfiled' rather than respecting any categories you have in iCal, addressbook or the phone.
Calendar Events and notes can only be 160 characters long or they get truncated.
So it's better now, but if they add the category support and reverse the bizarre feature changes such as losing device sync from the menubar and limiting to 160 characters then it'd be usable. As such, it's still not advanced enough to be truly useful.
I also wish they'd expand iSync to more than just contacts and addresses. How about photos and music?
I don't know if there's a Series 60 version of the UIQ application 'SMan' but that's what I use.

Will this work with a 6015i Nokia phone??
It might.
The 6015i doesn't have bluetooth, but USB could work.

That's what Backup is for.

a) Nokia phone support is via bluetooth only.
b) No. That's not what Backup is for.

Not a chance in Hades. I *just* bought one today after three weeks of research, because it was $10 with a new contract, which I had to get anyway. (At that price when a phone comes out that I really want and can afford, I won't feel bad about ditching this one.)
The 6015i is a Series 40 1.0 phone. iSync supports Series 60 phones. PhoneDirector supports (some) Series 40 2.0 phones. I don't expect we'll ever see support for this on the Mac, sadly. I've been poking around the Nokia developer site, and the best I can come up with for *any* sort of connectivity is to enable WAP on my home Apache server and download files to it that way. :P With a PC, Nokia's PC Tools can be used with the $45(!!!) USB cable, but even then it's not positive what is supported for sync.
Bummer too, because otherwise I really like the little bugger.
And regarding this:
b) No. That's not what Backup is for.
Umm, yes. It is.

I want to sync, not backup, the music and photos ON MY PHONE to my Mac and vice versa. ie. I take photos on my phone, I want them transferred to iPhoto or I create a playlist in iTunes that is transferred to my phone when I next sync.
Currently I have to manually move photos off the phone and manually move music to a folder on the memory stick either in a card reader or via bluetooth/usb connection with my phone. I wouldn't recommend the bluetooth method though unless you're doing it overnight.
Trust me. Backup and .Mac are not going to help there. Apart from that, I don't have or want a .Mac account - it's pointless when you've you're own server farm with a few hundred GB space just for your own use. Even GMail looks like a toy.
If I wanted to do what .Mac Backup does I'd just write an rsync script for my WebDav share, but that doesn't help phone syncing.

Oh, and you probably want to kill iSync Agent from running on your phone all the time as it seems to eat battery life dramatically.
I don't know if there's a Series 60 version of the UIQ application 'SMan' but that's what I use.
I see NO difference in crappy battery life.
I still get about 2 days of talk time before going down to a bar or 2 of power.
And this is on a 6600 whose battery is still original and in use since a year and a half!
Nice.
